The N.S.S. has been established by the central government to commemorate Mahatma Gandhis birth centenary in the year 1969. The scheme promotes Gandhian thought of the rural development and self-dependence.

The N.S.S. department has been actively functioning right from the inception of the college in 1999. The N.S.S. intends to inculcate the qualities of self-dependence, social sensibility, honesty and dignity of labor.

The college runs all the programmes and activities designed by the ministry of youth affairs and sports and the savitribai phule Pune University, pune. The college has the N.S.S. Unit of two hundred volunteers.

Objectives of N.S.S.:-

  1. To know the society in which we live and work
  2. To make oneself competent to understand the society
  3. To know the needs problems of society and try to work out solutions for such problems.
  4. To inculcate leadership quality to strengthen democracy of the nation
  5. To reduce the gap between literate and illiterate people
  6. To preach and develop national integrity
  7. To help the poor and weaker sections of our society.

Nature of N.S.S.:-
The N.S.S. implements programmes in two chief ways -
Each enrolled N.S.S. Volunteer needs to contribute 120 clocks for the social work. Following types of activities are run in and around the college campus.

Regular Activities

  1. Blood group checking and Blood donation camp.
  2. Tree-Plantation.
  3. Cleanliness activities
  4. Kranti din  Programme
  5. Rakshabandhan
  6. Environment Awaremess Rallies.
  7. Special guidance on various subjects

B) Special camping activities

The college organizes a seven-day residential special camp for volunteers. During the last five years, the college organized camps in the following adopted villages-vitthalwadi,parodi, dahiwadi, warude, pimpaledhumal.

The N.S.S. Programme officers and the volunteers with help of villagers implemented activities like cleanliness, water conservation, tree –plantation, village social survey, soak-peats, health camps, cultural activities.

The N.S.S. Department Following activities and programmes:

1.Ayurvedic remedies and Health of YouthGurupournima 12th July 2014:-

The Gurupournima was celebrated and the function was presided over by Principal Dr. P.R.Patil. Dr. AvinashJadhav delivered lecture on Health Issues and ayurvedicremidies.

2. AnnabhausSathe birth anniversary and death anniversary of
LokmanyTilak -01 Aug 2014:-
The N.S.S and cultural departments jointly celebrated the occasion. The vice-president of shikshanprasarakmandal Mr. ShrikantSatpute Presided over the function.

3. Inauguration of N.S.S. Regular activities 5th Aug 2014
The regular activities of N.S.S. were inaugurated at the hands of university N.S.S. Co-Ordinatior Dr. PanditShelke. Mr. MaheshbapuDhamdhere (Trustee, S.P. Mandal) Presided over the function.

4. Kranti-din special programme on 9th Aug2014.

The N.S.S. department organized a rally to celebrate the occasion. The occasion was celebrated at Hutatma Vishnu ganeshpingale memorial the martyrs were given tribute and shripingaleguruji, descendent of Hutatmapingale was the chief uest of the function shriMaheshbapudhamdhere presided over the function

5. Rakshabandhan at AnandAshramshala

The N.S.S department organized Rakshabandhan at AnandAshramshala with poor and prphan students

6. N.S.S. Day celebration on 24th Sept 2014

The day was celebrated in presence of Dr. SudhakarBokefode (Deputy Registrar, SavitribaiPhule Pune Unviersity) and Unversity N.S.S Co-Ordinator Dr. SanjaykumarDalwi the trees were planted in the campus to celebrate the occasion

7. Blood Donation Camp: 01 Octomber 2014

The blood donation camp was organized in the college and over forty students donated their blood

8. Maha Swachata Abhiyan-

3rd 2015 the programme was jointly organized by the department with Talegaon Dhamdhere Grampanchayat and pune zilla parishad.
